STARR (Staff Training Aimed at Reducing Re-Arrest) is a set of skills used during an officer’s interaction with a client. The following learning tools may be used to help facilitate your practice of the Cognitive Model and Problem Solving skills. Here you will find the illustrations depicting the Cognitive Model skill and the Thinking Report which is often assigned as homework. You will also find the Problem Solving worksheet with a list of four questions that can prompt you through the process of solving a problem. Feedback from your officer is an important part of your development of these skills and is encouraged.
